Tsuyukusa

Tsuyukusa, also known as “dewdrop,” is a summer plant that has been growing wild in Japan since ancient times. Its name is derived from its ephemeral appearance, resembling morning dew, as it blooms in the morning and wilts by noon.

Benefits and Effects

Known as “oisekiso” in Kanpo, traditional Japanese medicine. Tsuyukusa offers various health benefits, including antifebrile, diuretic, cold-relief, anti-pus, anti- inflammatory, and the ability to suppress elevated blood sugar levels and insect bites.

How to Consume

Tsuyukusa has a mild flavor that complements various dishes well. It can be boiled and added to your favorite dishes, such as boiled vegetables, dressings, soups, miso soups, and stir-fried dishes. Various recipes can incorporate Tsuyukusa based on personal preference. Note that the alien species, Tokiwa Tsuyukusa, is not edible.
