スベリヒユ

Common Purslane also known as “suberihyu,” is a prehistoric naturalized plant that grows in tropical and desert zones worldwide. It is known for its vigorous and reproductive nature, often considered a troublesome weed in agriculture.
However, it is sold as a vegetable abroad and is a luxury ingredient in French cuisine, known as “purpier.”

Benefits and Effects:
Despite being considered a troublesome weed due to its strong vitality, Suberihiyu is a powerful detoxifier and anti-inflammatory, earning it the reputation of a “natural antibiotic.”
• It offers various health benefits, including antipyretic, cough suppressant, hemostatic, analgesic, intestinal regulation, eczema relief, insect bites,
dermatitis, and antibacterial properties.

How to Consume:
Suberihiyu contains vitamins, minerals, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids, making it a superfood with excellent nutritional value. In China, it is also known as “horse’s milk plant.” It has a slightly sour and peculiar taste but can be enjoyed in various dishes such as boiled and stir-fried dishes, soups, miso soups, salads, and smoothies.
However, be cautious about excessive consumption, as it contains high levels of oxalic acid, which can cause diarrhea.
